The West Virginia Legislature is poised to pass two bills related to protecting West Virginia’s children: 

SB 1083 (Sen. Tom Willis) which enhances protections against indecent exposure, particularly involving minors by creating new offenses, clarifying definitions and imposing stricter penalties, including sex offender registration in certain circumstances.

And, SB 590 (Sen. Mike Azinger) which aims to prohibit exhibitions of adult themed, obscene content in public spaces where it could be viewed by minors.  It would add a new section, designated §61-8A-2a, relating to the exhibition of obscene material and make it a criminal offense for a person to engage in adult themed cabaret performances on public property where it could be viewed by minors.

You don’t have to look far to see the outcry of folks like Fairness WV and most of the state’s left-leaning media outlets to see how these bills were framed as an “attack on LGBTQIA2S+ people”.  

What a load of rubbish.

Their empty virtue signaling enables them to feel morally superior,  but do you know what’s missing from their articles? The often hidden or ignored reality of small children being targeted and trained (groomed) to applaud men dressed as women, to be at ease with men wearing fishnet stockings and thigh-high boots strutting around to arouse the crowd.

These "entertainers" and their supporters wish for little ones to overcome their shock and discomfort at seeing drag queens' raunchy antics such as squatting on tip toes while spreading their legs toward kids at the bar-- a scene from a live show in southern West Virginia in 2022. Never mind the confusion children have with regard to gender, not understanding if the person dancing sensually in front of them is a male or female. It's art, right?!  Females are defined by wigs and makeup, right? 

And don't forget the cash tips. Apparently, it's important for detractors of these bills, such as Democrat Senators, Mike Woelfel, (D-Cabell) and Joey Garcia, (D-Marion) for children to learn not only to be comfortable with men parading around them with sexual innuendo, but to give cash handouts to them as well, during and after their sensual performances. That element of drag shows was even demonstrated at the State Capitol recently. 

Understanding the social contagion of transgenderism and research based findings of the harms of so-called "gender medicine" in recent years, one might think that deliberately exposing children to such confusion and erotic displays might be dangerously close to inflicting "mental or emotional injury" as defined in our laws regarding child abuse in WV Code §49-1-201.  

Fairness WV and all those who jump on the bandwagon claiming this is an “anti-LGBTQIA2S+” bill also fail to acknowledge the hundreds of thousands of gay people in the Mountain State and around the nation who do not support drag shows or pride events aimed at children. Child advocacy groups like Gays Against Groomers have been working for years to protect children from gender ideologues and their radical agenda.

In 2022, Fayetteville, the Gateway to the New River Gorge, witnessed a community uproar when a local restaurant decided to host a “family friendly” drag show.  They were met with much pushback from locals who claimed the event was adult entertainment and children should not be present at shows meant to sexually tease the audience.  




Beacon News West Virginia began covering this with Episode 19, where even members from the drag community were expressing opposition to involving children in such events.  From the interview with Drag Queen, Kitty Demure:  

“I saw that it was going in the direction of bringing kids into drag. And,.. I just don’t think it’s right…you know, it sexualizes children and it’s an adult space. Why would anybody want a child in an adult space?”  -Drag Queen, Kitty Demure

The hosting restaurant in Fayetteville publicly said many of the same things in 2022 that Fairness WV and others supporting them are saying now: “Drag is THEATER. It’s curious why, then, if they truly believe such things, they removed the public images the professional photographer made from their drag show for children in 2022:

• The one showing little children sitting at a bar watching half naked “entertainers” falling out of skimpy attire while shaking their body in vulgar fashion.

• The one showing an “entertainer” wearing only stilettos, sparkly tights, tiny shorts and a bra adorned with emblems of children’s candy, laying on the floor in a provocative pose.

• Or how about the one with a child looking uncomfortable while the same “entertainer” takes cash from those next to him? 

Surely these would be gold for creating a marketing campaign to showcase a strong stand of “inclusiveness” and “family friendly” drag events for children, right?   ...but they were removed from the restaurant's business page. Why the cowardice in publicly proclaiming a successful drag event for kids?

Because where the rubber meets the road, there is no substance, no virtue, no solid argument for endorsing sexual adult entertainment for children.  We should not be asking if children want to see drag shows, we should be asking why drag queens and other sexual entertainers desire an audience of children.
