Greenbrier County Sheriff, Bart Baker, has confirmed that an investigation is ongoing at Western Greenbrier Middle School, in Crawley, WV, regarding the injury of a handicapped child on March 13, 2026. 

The school’s Professional Resource Officer (PRO), Sergeant Josh Pachis, has been investigating the incident and currently preparing a report to be sent to the Greenbrier County Prosecuting Attorney’s office for evaluation regarding further action.

The injured child’s mother, Lindsey Nicole Eary, refutes the Greenbrier County School Superintendent's claim that her son returned to school the day after injury and says that the assistant principal only contacted her that evening, due to the viral nature of her social media post on Friday, March 13.  

She says that her son was ill on the days following the incident, with vomiting and headache and had to have a CT scan.  She says he did not return to school until Monday, March 23.  She expressed frustration in recent correspondence with Beacon News West Virginia, saying: 

“No parent should ever have to send their special needs student to school and they come home with a head injury.”  - Lindsey Nicole Eary 


In correspondence today, she added: 

"Not one administration official from the board office has contacted me directly to discuss this matter. We look forward to presenting all the facts and receipts at a later time and in the appropriate setting." - Lindsey Nicole Eary
