What Does it Mean to be an American?

Looking toward our country's celebration of July 4th and realizing the distorted view we can get from too much social media streaming, I wanted a fresh perspective by speaking with people face to face in my own community.   So I asked people here in southern West Virginia, "What does it mean to be an American?"  Some were camera shy and others honestly stated, "I really don't know anymore".. but others were glad to speak up about what this country means to them.  A few that I encountered weren't Americans, but only visitors, so I asked what they thought of the country.  I enjoyed meeting and listening to each one of you!
