MetroNews Draws Wrong Conclusion on Vaccine Exemption Controversy

TJ Meadows recently wrote for MetroNews in an article dated September 3, 2025,  partially titled,  “Polling Leaves Little Doubt” on vaccines for West Virginia children, thus painting a scene that liberal WV media and the medical lobby wish to see, but skirted the issue actually being debated, entirely.

MetroNews was reporting on a survey, conducted by Rex Repass, asking 400 respondents, “Should states require children in grades K-12 to be vaccinated against highly contagious diseases before entering school?”

But they failed to address the issue at hand. Their poll was a convenient way to draw a conclusion desired for promotion.  No one is telling parents not to vaccinate their children. No one.

The issue is about parents being forced to vaccinate their children against their conscience. The issue is about medical freedom.  It's about West Virginia upholding the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, passed by our WV Legislature in 2023.

The very fact that West Virginia is in such a contentious dispute about this topic provides a glimpse into the stronghold of a medical lobby that would have Mountaineers wearing blinders to 45 other states including Ohio, Kentucky, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia— all of which allow religious and/or philosophical exemptions to childhood vaccines.

Who exactly were the respondents in the Rex Repass survey?  A breakdown was shared of political party affiliation but viewers were denied a glimpse into the potential affiliation with WVU Medicine and others who benefit from the sale and promotion of pharmaceutical agents.

The fact is we have families who must leave the state in order to educate their children because of a draconian mandate to inject questionable substances into their children.  We have families who homeschool their children for the same reason while listening to the WV State Board of Education whine about losing students and funding.  The BOE has found it more fitting to demonize homeschoolers than to move WV children out of last place in the nation for educational outcomes.

The hypocrisy of our state media advocating for tyrannical vaccine mandates and promoting that propaganda while at the same time covering high school football scores and highlights when our kids play OUT-of-STATE teams would be laughable if it weren’t so damnable.  Every state bordering West Virginia allows for religious and/or philosophical exemptions to vaccines.  Think about that for a moment.

Consider where many West Virginians vacation in the summer.  Many go to Myrtle Beach and guess what-- those WV kids are swimming in the ocean, playing putt putt or visiting water slides with kids from a state that allows religious exemptions.  My goodness, should we close our borders?!  It's absurd, but this illustrates the insanity of the forced vaccination camp.

Has Rex ever surveyed West Virginians to ask if they even know our surrounding states allow for religious/philosophical exemptions?  This is an easy one.  Then maybe consider asking how many actually read vaccine package inserts that outline the potential benefits vs risks factor.  This is called informed consent and it's sadly missing from many areas of our healthcare these days.

TJ went on to say, “Ultimately, the poll delivers a clear message: the public overwhelmingly supports compulsory vaccination. Those who would use West Virginia’s Equal Protection for Religion Act (EPRA) as an end-run around the law are out of step with voters.”  The successful marketing of the medical lobby in the Mountain State depends completely on statements such as this whereby conclusions are drawn from insufficient premises.

One wonders if MetroNews has ever interviewed the vaccine injured or asked why some of our best teachers, such as Amanda Mullins , a former Teacher of the Year, are leaving public education over vaccine mandates?

So, in the interest of pursing an accurate read on the genuine issue at hand, Beacon News WV conducted our own poll, asking:  “Should parents in West Virginia be allowed to opt out of vaccine mandates for their children based on religious and/or philosophical convictions, like all of our border states allow?”

49.8% said YES

47.1% said NO

3.1% were Unsure

The poll was promoted to West Virginians regardless of political or pharmaceutical affiliation. One-thousand, six-hundred and fifty-three people voted over a three day period.

The results show, not as MetroNews concludes, that our state is for mandatory vaccines, but rather, the opposite.  In our wider sampling of the state, among a variety of backgrounds, MOST West Virginians believe in religious freedom.  Most of us recognize that we don't want to be in the same category as California and New York, forcing our kids to be injected with aborted fetal cells, aluminum and a host of other objectionable ingredients.  Yes, you read that right.  Take time to read the fine print and you'll know, too.

"Montani semper liberi" is what we claim as our motto in the Mountain State.  But, looking at the propinquity of our poll, only a slim majority actually believes it and pursues freedom.
